Abstract

Superluminescent diodes (SLEDs) are typically edge-emitters based on in-plane amplified spontaneous emission and require low feedback to suppress lasing [1]. These devices are especially suited for applications demanding low temporal coherence and high output power densities with high directionality. To date SLEDs in the IR, as well as red, blue, and recently green have been reported [2].
