Abstract

Assuming that this is an age of global crisis, educational sciences are called upon to find contemporary concepts and practices for the analysis of educational phenomena and conditions. The article proposes a educational theoretical view on the concept of translation. This is done by outlining educational theory as a cultural and critical science. By re-reading Walter Benjamin's and Homi K. Bhabha's reflections on translation, a set of theoretical vocabulary is developed. This not only enables a closer look at the fundamental disorder of educational theory and the related struggles for identity but also takes the enmeshment of educational theory with its object and its conflicting form into consideration.
