Abstract

Nowadays advanced high strength steel sheets and related forming technologies play a vital role in light weight construction in the transportation sector. Within this paper the mechanical behaviour of the multi phase steels DP600, DP800 and CP800 is investigated, being focussed on the influence of various loading conditions in particular. Uniaxial tensile tests, layer compression tests and bulge tests are carried out, to characterize plastic material properties like anisotropy and work hardening. The forming behaviour is evaluated utilizing optical strain measurement, to obtain detailed information on the deformation behaviour. True stress strain curves are obtained, clearly quantifying the properties described above. The results are discussed and evaluated with regard to numerical simulation of sheet metal forming processes. © Springer/ESAFORM 2008.
