Abstract

Virtual Commissioning increases quality and efficiency in production engineering whilst also decreasing required time. Even though it is a foundation for state-of-the-art production systems, it is not in widespread use yet. In this contribution, an overview of current scientific approaches and use cases for Virtual Commissioning is given. Furthermore, additional fields of interest are derived and detailed on exploratory use cases. The findings show that Virtual Commissioning is a crucial factor to engineering of advanced, sustainable production systems as well as a cornerstone of the Digital Twin.
