Abstract

The floating swarm concept is presented by means of an example with one transmit and 20 small receive-only SAR satellites. The receive antenna size of each satellite is less than 1 m2. The real swarm with its position variations is approximated to an equivalent swarm with ideal positions for the formation of a swarm elevation antenna. A 50 km ground swath is obtained with 1 m resolution by on-ground SCORE. The achievable SAR performance is estimated and opportunities for interferometry and other SAR techniques are outlined.
