Abstract

Aq. SiC suspensions were used to prep. components by pressure casting. The interparticle forces between the submicron particles, which can be attractive or repulsive, are necessary to get a stable and dispersed powder slurry. The role of the forces on the pressure casting kinetics and resulting filter cake properties was analyzed. A correlation between the filter cake structure, as well as compact properties like compressibility, porosity, pore size distribution and permeability is discussed based on the results. Properties are related to the structural permeability model of Carman and Kozeny. [on SciFinder(R)]
