Abstract

We present the results of systematic gas adsorption expts. and an advanced structural characterization of novel ordered mesoporous SiO2 materials with 3-D cubic Ia-3d structure (KIT-6). The pore condensation and hysteresis behavior of N (at 77.4 K) and Ar (at 77.4 and 87.3 K) was studied in KIT-6 materials of different porosities and various mean pore diams. (ranging from ∼ 5 nm up to 12 nm). We compare further the sorption and phase behavior of N and Ar confined to this 3D cubic porous system with their behavior in pseudo-1D pore systems (e.g. SBA-15 SiO2). Our results also shed light on the extent to which the so-called single pore model can be used for the pore size anal. of materials consisting of ordered pore networks. [on SciFinder(R)]
