Abstract

Replacement of 1,4-benzenedicarboxylate by 2,6-naphthalenedicarboxylate (L) in the MIL-101 structure leads to an isoreticular mesoporous framework, [Cr3(OH)(H2O)3(μ3-O)L3]·guest (I; guest = H2O, EtOH) contg. cages with diams. of 39 and 46 Å. I was prepd. by the reaction of 2,6-naphthalenedicarboxylic acid with the Cr3+ salts, Cr(NO3)3, [Cr3(OAc)7(OH)2], CrCl3 or Cr(acac)2. High-throughput methods are employed to det. appropriate reaction conditions. The microcryst. compd. was characterized by mol. simulation techniques, powder x-ray diffraction, N2-sorption, and TEM studies. [on SciFinder(R)]
