Abstract

In this paper, we introduce an approach for an improved target separation capability for the signal processing of the interlaced chirp sequence (ICS) waveform. Target velocity and range combinations can be unfavorable in some scenarios, and cannot be resolved with a single measurement. By running a second measurement with a different slope, similar to up- and downsweep for a linearly frequency-modulated continuous wave (FMCW) radar, these difficult scenarios can be resolved. Simulations and measurements with a 24 GHz radar prove the feasibility of the concept.
