Abstract

In this paper, variants of tungsten doped hydrogenated amorphous carbon coatings (a-C:H:W) were deposited on high speed steel by reactive magnetron sputtering. During the deposition process the bias voltage and argon flow were varied according to a 3x3 grid line experimental design. The coatings were investigated in terms of their topological, mechanical and tribological properties with different interfacial mediums. Raman spectroscopy was used to identify phase composition of the coatings.
