Abstract

Conventional warning and security textiles based on molecular dispersed luminescent dyes exhibit limited photostability and wet fastness. The washing resistance of the textiles can be improved by using luminescent pigments instead of dyes for their coloration. The idea is to use the liquid agent for dispersion of the highly luminescent particles in this medium. The whole system is then injected into the extruder of the spin- fling unit and fibers are formed. The liquid agent stays inside the polymer and, therefore, has to be compatible with the polymer in order to avoid negative impact on the mechanical properties of the fibers. The evaluation of the dependence of changes of the properties and the process conditions is ambiguous, since the particle content and the amount of liquid dispersion agent was changed at the same time.
