Abstract

The damping behavior of metallic foams is excellent. This attribute can be useful in applications in lightweight structures to overcome noise and vibration problems. This investigation aims at aluminium integral foam components. Integral foams are characterized by a dense skin and a gradual transition to the cellular core. This contribution is focused on damping of the integral foam structure and its transferability onto parts with higher complexity.
