Abstract

Flow induced noise from a Forward Facing Step (FFS) is numerically investigated and comparison done with experimental work. The Reynolds number based on the height of the step is Reh ≈ 8000. A Hybrid approach is used for the Computational Aeroacoustics (CAA). Turbulent flow simulation is calculated and the acoustic propagation is carried out simultaneously in time domain. Coupling of source terms from flow simulation grid to the acoustic simulation grid is studied. Stability analysis of the coupling strategy is studied with respect to grid study and source term interpolation. © 2007 by the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Inc.
