Abstract

On the basis of a study of 25 discussions between associates and managers in two different organizations, the authors analyze in what way personnel-related and organizational development are linked. Explicit references to existing structures for the support of learning strategies are often encountered in these discussions, less often the relation between individual and organizational learning processes is explicated. Least frequently, we find evidence of an anylsis of patterns in the organization-cultural practice that impede learning processes. The discussions suffer from a lack of adult-educational and organization-pedagogical competence among management. The potential of discussions with associates as a pedagogical-managerial nerve center between personnel-related and organizational development is thus limited in its effectiveness.
