Abstract

This paper presents a novel scalable 3D thorax model for electromagnetic (EM) field simulations. Two antennas operating at 1.6 GHz are designed and matched for application in a cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) feedback system. A microwave based CPR feedback system is investigated by applying the new thorax model. The fabricated antennas are evaluated in self-experiments. Magnitude and phase measurements are compared with simulation results. It is shown, that the thorax compression during CPR can be monitored with the proposed RF based approach with good agreement to the EM simulation.
