Abstract

Polarization squeezing and continuous-variable polarization entanglement of light was studied. To study this concept, the properties of Stokes parameters and Poincare sphere were studied. For a range of simple polarization states, the general features of the Stokes operators were illustrated by evaluating their means and variances. It was shown that the Stokes parameters can be measured by the use of linear optical elements and direct detection schemes that are sensitive to the quantum correlations in the two polarization components of the light.
