Abstract

From the Triassic deposits the sponge genus Peronidella is known only from the Upper Triassic shallow water carbonates. All Triassic species known in the literature are discussed. Some species of the genus Peronidella are excluded from this genus. The new species Peronidella iranica is described from several Norian-Rhaetian reefs imbedded within the siliciclastic-cabonatic deposits of the Nayband formation in Iran and also from the Gruber-reef, south of the village Hintersee (Salzburg/Austria).
