In this article the backstepping approach is extended to the design of flatness-based tracking controllers for parabolic systems with robust disturbance rejection. The corresponding stabilization problem consists of an eigenvalue assignment for the internal model and the independent backstepping design of a state feedback for the parabolic system. For tracking control systems with non-destabilizing model uncertainty robust disturbance rejection is verified. The proposed tracking controller design is demonstrated for an uncertain parabolic system.
