Abstract

We present Massive Multiuser Event Infrastructure (M2etis), a configurable publish-subscribe middleware. M2etis uses discrete-event simulations and regression methods to translate declarative descriptions of event types in terms of the application domain to an optimal configuration. Configuration decisions are based on the Quality-of-Service (QoS) requirements of the application and are conducted by a configuration component at design-time to minimize performance impacts at run-time. The demonstration shows how the M2etis configuration workflow can be applied to the application domain of Massively Multiplayer Online Games (MMOGs). We explain the configuration workflow as conducted by the M2etis configuration component and illustrate how it can be integrated into the development lifecycle of distributed applications. © 2014 Authors.
