Abstract

We demonstrate for the first time 26.75 Gb/s transmission over up to 15 m of large-core 500 μm PMMA POF. Simple NRZ modulation is used which reduces complexity, power consumption and latency of the system. In combination with a POF ribbon cable this approach is a promising and robust alternative to high-speed 100 Gb/s copper interconnects for data center applications (4 channels with 25 Gb/s each). © 2013 OSA.
