Abstract

A method for producing aldehydes from alkanes and synthesis gas comprises a) dehydrating at least one alkane in the presence of a heterogeneous catalyst to produce at least one alkene, b) conversion of the alkene or the alkenes from step a) with hydrogen and carbon monoxide in the presence of a heterogeneous catalyst comprising a solid substrate material which supports an ionic liq. which contains a catalyst including at least one transition metal and at least one ligand. Thus, obtaining pentanal by dehydrogenating and hydroformylating butane at 850° and normal pressure implemented in a dehydrogenation reactor made of Alloy 600 having length 650 mm and inner diam. 10 mm and contg. 10 g a hydrogenation catalyst such as Cr2O3 and CrO3 supported on alumina followed by hydroformylation step implemented in a hydroformylation reactor at 450° and pressure 50 bar in the presence of 3 g a SILP catalyst prepd. from Rh(CO)2acac, 2,2'-(3,3'-Di-tert-butyl-5,5'-dimethoxybiphenyl-2,2'-diyl)bis(oxy)bis(4,4,5,5-tetraphenyl-1,3,2-dioxaphospholane) as a ligand and EMIM NTF2 as an ionic liq. and supported Kieselgel 100 takes place with selectivity >99%.
