Abstract


A number of researchers from Weber GmbH & Co, in Dillenburg, Germany, demonstrated that significant innovative efforts spread over a period of time led to significant advancements in the field of tooling. These researchers demonstrated that early tooling was being replaced by the latest on-screen 3-D load simulation as effective tooling techniques for a wide range of applications. The design of a molded component and the corresponding mold were being processed in 3-D, due to the availability of CAE. CAE played a key role in improving expertise in plastic-compatible design, processing, and mold technology. Computer-aided simulation benefited from the availability of three-dimensional component and mold data, while prediction accuracy was improving continuously.
