Abstract

A space-variant and a space-invariant approach for decreasing the wavelength dependence of diffractive fan-out systems was presented. Applying diffractive optical elements (DOEs) for the wave-front correction in the space-variant system, the spot sizes were lessened by half the spot sizes over a wavelength range of 20 nm. The paraxial design of the space-invariant system revealed that at least two diffractive lenses were needed. The resulting space-invariant system gave a nearly diffraction-limited performance for a wavelength range from 830 to 850 nm. A summary of the results for all three system designs were also provided.
