Abstract

The maximum values and the time functions of the dynamic short-circuit stress set up on a 220 kv test-structure with stiff conductors are compared with the values calculated by a numerical and an analytical method. It is also shown that the distribution of the static and the maximum dynamic bending moments along the supports (insulators with steel pillars) is approximately linear. Parameter studies carried out over the entire range of the mechanical fundamental frequencies in question disclose the influence of the support elasticity on the dynamic conductor and insulator stress. A fault due to closing onto short-circuited and earthed equipment and to unsuccessful auto-reclosing does not involve the three phases simultaneously. The fault sequence resulting from the different pole switching is as follows: line-to-earth fault, line-to-line fault or double line-to-earth fault, three-phase fault. This phenomenon may lead to a considerable increase of the peak currents, electromagnetic peak forces and also of the dynamic stress compared with a simultaneous three-phase fault. The increase is described as a function of the essential parameters.
