Abstract

In this paper we compare the performance of different full-frame and block-based algorithms for the temporal alignment of two video sequences. The setup is typical for full reference video quality estimation in a low-bitrate scenario. Lossless and lossy digital transmission scenarios are combined with different distor- tions usually found in playback devices. The results show that the choice of the algorithm for temporal registration depends very much on the type of additional distortion expected.
