Abstract

We propose and numerically investigate an optimal carrier phase and amplitude noise estimation (CPANE) algorithm using extended Kalman filter (EKF) for effective mitigation of linear and nonlinear phase noise with simultaneous suppression of amplified spontaneous emission (ASE) noise.
