Abstract

Detection of Secondary Surveillance Radar (SSR) signals is highly error prone in scenarios where multipath propagation and transponder interference is involved. The proposed method largely improves this situation by iteratively combining smart antenna and classical equalization approaches. A large dataset of SSR replies, recorded at problematic sites of Frankfurt Airport by a multichannel receiver is used for verification.
