Abstract

Explored was the effect of mechanical activation on ignition and combustion of Ti-BN and Ti-SiC-C blends. Activated blends and combustion products were characterized by high-precision XRD and SEM. SHS in the systems under study was found to proceed in a mode of solid flame (no melted intermedi-ates/products). © 2011 Allerton Press, Inc.
