Short description

Aim of the research project is to identify an appropriate lubrication system for non- isothermal hot forming of high-strength aluminum alloys and to optimize their composition in order to fulfill the tribological and thermal process requirements. Beside of the development and optimization of new dry lubricants as well as its innovative method of application, the suitability of this forming process should be tested and evaluated with appropriate test procedures. In detail, the deep drawing suitability of the lubricant under hot forming and quenching conditions and the resulting surface properties of the parts should be quantified. Furthermore, the friction coefficient should be determined for the relevant process window of warm strip drawing tests under quenching conditions. The results will be summarized in a valuation scheme, which enables an improvement of the lubricant composition and derives a recommendation for industrial application.
