Abstract

Whale Optimisation Algorithm (WOA) is a recently developed nature-inspired, meta-heuristic algorithm, which is being used to solve various multidimensional complex problems. This paper presents the design of lower order Type 1 and Type 2 FIR Filter using WOA. The Convergence curves for the design of Type 1 Order 20 and Type 2 Order 19 FIR filters show a steady convergence over the entire search space. The pass band ripple and stop band attenuation is calculated to judge the efficiency of the designed filter. The time taken for the algorithm to produce the required coefficients to design a filter of a given order is also calculated.
