Abstract

The economization and commercialization of patient care frequently is a subject in public discussions. In the past of this discourse ambulatory care was mostly omitted. We develop and discuss eleven theses to ensure good primary care. An economically responsible behavior as an ethical demand for the health professional is contrasted with a commercialized health care system that subordinates patient care to financial interests. The implementation of a primary care based system in Germany and ethical reflections on the medical education of students and young doctors are discussed to meet the problems of industrialization and commercialization in our health care system.
