By simulating the morphological filtering and the additional consideration of the elastic deformation of workpiece's surface, models can be provided for the simulation of tactile coordinate measurements. For the simulation, the surface profiles are decomposed into the individual wave or spatial frequency components. Each frequency is flattened according to the calculated proportion. The resulting profile serves as a basis for further evaluations regarding various surface parameters. When evaluating the waviness and straightness deviations, differences can be identified for various simulation parameters and evaluation conditions. The influence of the elastic flattening on the result depends on the considered workpiece surface and the used probe tip radius. Significant effects can be observed with regular surface structures and the use of small probe tip radii. The models resulting from the simulation can also be used for the simulation of the measurement uncertainty.
