Abstract

The article argues that the story of Gideon constitutes the redaction historical nucleus of the saviour narratives in the Book of Judges. Various redactional reworkings established Judg 6-8(.9) as the original literary link between Josh and Sam. The cycle of saviour narratives, including the framework of the stories, sub sequently grew from this core.
