Abstract

Regarding long-term implant survival after sinus membrane elevation, current literature shows no advantage of using autogenous bone over bone substitute materials, growth and differentiation factors, or a graft-free sinus membrane elevation. Material selection should be adapted to clinical conditions, residual bone height, and maxillary sinus configuration. For implant survival, factors other than the selection of graft material play a more important role.
