Abstract

A straightforward non-covalent synthetic strategy for producing donor-acceptor rotaxanes is reported. Femtosecond absorption spectroscopy illustrates that the use of this strategy gives rise to supramolecular chromophores with different electron transfer behavior. © 2013 The Royal Society of Chemistry.
