Abstract

A study was conducted to investigate the effect of titanium hydroxide (TiH) particle size on the morphology of aluminum (Al)-foam produced by PM process. The investigation was an approach to utilize the altering of the decomposition kinetics of TiH, based on its particulate sizes. TiH type N was ground by using a Retsch ball mill type S100, to obtain a wide variety of TiH particulate sizes. Particle size and size distributions for the supplied and milled powders were measured, using a Malvern MasterSizer 2000 laser particle size analyzer. Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) and Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) were also carried out for TiH powders with different particle sizes, using Netzsch STA 409 type equipment.
