Abstract

This paper proposes a method for correcting the lift coefficient of two-dimensional hydrofoils in cascades by an iterative procedure developed for arbitrary camber-lines. For this, a panel method for computing the flow field of two-dimensional thin hydrofoil cascades is developed and plugged in a design procedure for propellers. The theoretical improvements obtained with the presented method are validated in a case study with several propeller designs simulated by RANS CFD. © 2014 Elsevier Ltd.
