Abstract


The finite difference discretisation on staggered grids is a common technique to discretise Maxwell's equations and Stokes equations. The implementation of this discretisation on staggered grids is simplified and optimised by a new expression template concept. The MPI parallelisation is hidden in an underlying expression template library. The efficiency of the proposed technique is demonstrated by simulations of thin film solar cells using the Finite Difference Time Domain (FDTD) method. Copyright © 2009, Inderscience Publishers.
