Abstract

A method has been developed and applied which allows to analyze the contribution of individual transitions in an arbitrary data pattern to media noise. Distortions as displacement, amplitude, and width variation of pulses have been investigated. In addition to random transition noise nonlinear transition interaction becomes visible in deterministic contributions of the distortion parameters. © 1999 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
