Abstract


Application areas of additive manufacturing (AM) have increased during recent years. Within the framework of AM, the selective laser melting (SLM) of raw powder materials is one of the most frequently used methods. This near net shape process allows simultaneous manufacturing of many workpieces and demands to high quality requirements. There is a wide potential of improvements relating to the process and its parameters, based on specific quality values. The current work is aimed to evaluate the quality of SLM workpieces from the manufacturing metrology point of view. Dimensional and surface parameters of the manufactured test workpieces are investigated by tactile and optical measurement approaches. In this context a socalled test artifact is developed, which enables the inspection of different geometrical features deviations and surface characteristics. Thus a better knowledge about the compatibility of measurement techniques could be achieved.
