Abstract

The formation of condensed layers of the substituted fullerene 1-t-butyl-9-hydrofullerene-60 at the air/water interface is described. It is shown that high-quality Langmuir-Blodgett films of this material can be built up onto a variety of solid substrates, with deposition ratios of 0.95 ± 0.05 and overall film thickness of up to 200 nm. The room temperature d.c. conductivity has been measured perpendicular to the film plane and established to be of the order 10 S cm . © 1993.
