Abstract

A new method for the simulation of distributed linear systems is presented. It is based on linear systems theory and digital signal processing rather than numerical mathematics. The essence of the method is the replacement of the Green's function for the continuous problem with the discretized Green's function of a discrete system. Its transfer function can be obtained by functional transformations and leads directly to a realizing structure which also incorporates initial and boundary conditions. The application of the method and its numerical efficiency over existing methods is demonstrated by an example. © 1993.
