Abstract

Light-mediated Ca2+ uptake by isolated spinach protoplasts and chloroplasts, maintenance of low free Ca2+ levels in the cytosol and chloroplast stroma, Ca2+ binding by thylakoid and stromal proteins and the functional implications of Ca2+ binding are discussed.
