Abstract

This paper gives an introduction to receiver requirements for CDMA systems like IS-95 and cdma2000 1xRTT. From the specification in term of frame error ratio, the requirements on Eb/N0 are first derived. This papers explains how in the RAKE receiver the noise from the RF part and the orthogonal channels can effect the signal to noise ratio after despreading and demodulation and proposes how to reduce this effect which relaxes the requirements on phase noise and linearity in the receiver Front-end.
