Jeanine Kirchner-Krath

Jeanine Kirchner-Krath is a postdoctoral researcher in the Gamification & Digital Customer Engagement research group at Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU).

She studied at the University of Koblenz and received her M. Sc. in Information Management there in 2019. From 2020 to 2023, she completed her PhD in the research group for the management of information, innovation, entrepreneurship and organization at the University of Koblenz as part of the Greenify.work research project funded by the Foundation of German Business (https://greenify.work/) and established a competence center for gamification in organizations and for sustainability (GAMOS) at the University of Koblenz as academic director. From September to December 2022, she visited the Gamification Group led by Prof. Dr. Juho Hamari at the University of Tampere, Finland, as a visiting scholar. As part of her activities as a research assistant, she supported the use of gamified learning principles and Educational Escape Rooms in university teaching and was awarded the University Prize for Digital Teaching for her work.

Ms. Kirchner-Krath's research focuses on gamification and motivational information systems for sustainable development, in particular for promoting sustainable employee behavior in companies. A special focus of her research activities is the continuous collaboration with entrepreneurs and practitioners to explore the potential of gamified systems for sustainability (e.g. environmentally friendly behavior, employee health and fitness, mental health) in the work context and to make them usable for corporate decision makers. In this context, she organized the first StartPlay conference in 2022 as an interdisciplinary science-practice meeting on gamification for innovation and sustainability in the corporate context.
