Description

The chair belongs to the Department of Electrical, Electronic and Communication Engineering of the Faculty of Engineering. It is headed by Prof. Dr.-Ing. André Kaup, associated is the group of Prof. Dr.-Ing. Walter Kellermann.

Research:

The scientific research at our chair is structured in three major fields of activity:

Video Signal Processing and Transmission: Within the area of video coding and transmission emphasis is on development of signal processing methods for image and video coding at low data rates and for quality improvement in noisy video signals or such which are received with transmission errors.

Audio Communications and Computational Acoustics: The field of audio communications and computational acoustics develops algorithms for recording and reproduction of audio signals and verifies their performance by experiments.

Multidimensional Signals and Systems Theory: Within the area of video coding and transmission emphasis is on development of signal processing methods for image and video coding at low data rates and for quality improvement in noisy video signals or such which are received with transmission errors.

Teaching:

We offer lectures, Project Theses, Research Internships and Theses in a variety of Bachelor and Master programmes of the Faculty of Engineering, e.g. in Electrical, Electronic and Communication Engineering, Information and Communication Technology, Medical and Health Engineering, Industrial Engineering and Management, as well as in the international study programmes Communications and Multimedia Engineering and Computational Engineering.
