Digitalization Challenges (Technology Acceptance and Use)

Research picture

Description / Outline

The chair’s research also focuses on the acceptance and use of digital technologies. Different innovations are researched with regard to their acceptance and their effects on individual attitudes and behaviors. The focus is on questions of acceptance and use of digital technologies both in companies and for private purposes.

The chair team uses both quantitative (surveys) and qualitative (interviews) methods to investigate the acceptance of these digital technologies.

For the analysis of the acceptance of digital technologies in companies, the ADTC framework was developed, which is the basis of a variety of projects with different companies. In this way, it has been possible in the past to analyze challenges to user acceptance or satisfaction and to derive implications for the design of digital work systems. The focus is on the question of how people perceive digital technologies in relation to their work context and what challenges arise from this perception. model of user resistance has been developed by the chair team and successfully tested in various projects. Thus, the research of the chair contributes to a better understanding and management of resistance to new digital technologies.

The DCM framework is, among others, part of the master courses “Digital Change Management” and “Digital Transformation & Projects“. Application context-related issues of technology acceptance are also discussed in the lectures “Enterprise Knowledge Management” and “Electronic Human Resources Management“.
