As part of his doctoral research at the Bavarian Laser Center (blz) in Erlangen, Sebastian-Paul Kopp developed a new additive manufacturing process to industrial maturity: Laser-based powder bed fusion with electrophotographic powder application enables the production of precise, high-strength 3D multi-material products—such as custom-made prosthetics or personalized tablets with precisely dosed active ingredients. The technology opens up entirely new possibilities for medicine and personalized therapies.
